A team of American TV series "The Big Bang Theory" will offer a scholarship to low-income undergraduate students at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). The announcement was made by the university's website. The comedy portrays the daily life of a group of 'nerds' scientists.

The scholarship is intended for students admitted to UCLA for academic merit, but who need financial help to pay for the university costs. The first 20 recipients of the scholarship "The Big Bang Theory" will be selected for the academic year 2015-2016. Their names will be announced in the program's studio.
"All we were presented with 'The Big Bang Theory' series, a program that is not only based on scientific comuniade, but is also supported enthusiastically by the same community. This is our chance to give back," said Chuck Lorre to UCLA site. "In that spirit, our Big Bang family made a significant contribution, and together we will support these future academics, scientists and leaders."
The site of the institution recalls the actress Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler in the series, has a doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA.
